“We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.”
― Anaïs Nin
Thoughts: I love this. It is easy to assume growth is not there when we’re only looking for it in one dimension. Different parts of us experience growth at different times and at different rates. I realized that whilst I grew in strength through some tough times, embracing vulnerability has been a completely different process.
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
― Anaïs Nin
Thoughts: Long story short.. don’t stay in your comfort zone.
“Start now. Start where you are. Start with fear. Start with pain. Start with doubt. Start with hands shaking. Start with voice trembling but start. Start and don’t stop. Start where you are, with what you have. Just… start.”
Thoughts: Starting becomes much harder when we keep looking for the perfect takeoff.
“Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.”
― Brené Brown
Thoughts: I think this one has more to do with internal growth. Internal healing and growth calls upon us to be vulnerable. We have to come face to face with some wounds in order to heal from them and grow into the places from which they hold us back. We have to come face to face with some fears. Haruki says “What happens when people open their hearts? ..They get better.”
